About the Community

At that point, graduates of the program began to ask: What will be the next step for development?

Everyone shared a concern about the lack of professional dialogue — a space to discuss complex clinical cases and share thematic publications.
The idea of creating our Community emerged in 2018, when the first group of Russian colleagues completed a two-year training in psychoanalytic psychosomatics at the Euro-Latin American Psychosomatic School (EULAPS).

History of the CPPP

"The body in psychoanalysis. History and perspective", 2016
Back in 2016, on the initiative of Irina Korosteleva, PhD in psychology, and with the support of Professor Jorge C. Ulnik, the first thematic conference "The Body in Psychoanalysis: History and Perspective" was organized. It brought to Moscow outstanding psychoanalysts from Europe and Latin America whose research and clinical work focused on psychosomatics.
Conference from July 12, 2019 – July 20, 2019
We tried to preserve interaction by organizing online conferences, summer schools, and hybrid (online & offline) round tables, yet it still felt insufficient.
When circumstances later required us to move from in-person meetings to the online format, the need to maintain professional connection became crucial.
Given how complex psychosomatic patients can be — engaging with us on the deepest layers of the psyche, initiating psychosomatic transference that may destabilize our identity — we understood that building a shared professional "mental home" would help us feel more grounded and confident in our clinical work.
Over time, graduates of the EULAPS program fulfilled the qualification requirements necessary for certification, and the number of like-minded colleagues steadily grew.
We realized that creating the Community would not only allow us to meet regularly but could also provide a foundation for strengthening and supporting our professional identity.
Since then, we have been growing and evolving, new colleagues who have completed EULAPS programs continue to join us, and we strive to keep expanding and strengthening our network.
On December 23, 2023, there were finally enough of us — those who had completed all EULAPS training requirements — to formally establish our Community.
We closely collaborate with our teachers and colleagues from Argentina, Brazil, Italy, the United Kingdom, Portugal, and Spain. Joint events always provide rich material for reflection and discussion within the Community.

We also have opportunities to receive supervision from international specialists, carefully study publications on psychoanalytic work with psychosomatic patients, and make this knowledge accessible by publishing books and collections of articles.
And, of course, we invite colleagues interested in psychosomatic topics to join our professional dialogue.
